BioRadar Co-Founder and CEO Dr. Ashish K. Jha appeared on ABC News to react to the Trump administration's decision to send Americans exposed to or infected with Ebola to a quarantine center in Kenya — a country with no active Ebola cases.

Dr. Jha called the policy a "very bad idea," arguing that the decision reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of how effective outbreak containment works and raises serious concerns about the administration's approach to the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.

The WHO declared the DRC and Uganda outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern in mid-May 2026. Dr. Jha noted that CDC and global partners urgently need to surge resources into the affected region, warning that "a slow response creates unnecessary risks to people everywhere."

The appearance comes as BioRadar continues to highlight the growing gap between the biological threats facing the United States and the surveillance and response infrastructure currently in place to address them.
